Discover a real Toulouse hidden gem. L’Agence is a speakeasy-style restaurant that excels in creating fine food and cocktail pairings in a cozy, warm, and friendly atmosphere. With attentive waiters, unique cocktails, and sublime pairings crafted by the extraordinary bar staff and chef, L’Agence guarantees an unforgettable evening for you and your date.

The exclusive and refined vibe and the challenge of finding this secluded spot (which appears like a traditional travel agency from the outside) only add to the allure. We appreciate their commitment to the theme, with passport-styled menus and cocktail and beverage pairings inspired by global locales.

At Une Table à Deux, located in the Des Carmes district, the cuisine is a delightful fusion of tradition and innovative modernity. Jardins de l’Opera

Jardins de l’Opera is a serene oasis just off the bustling Place du Capitole. You can dine in the leafy interior courtyard or within a tastefully renovated space, complete with parquet flooring, wooden tables, and an inviting wine cellar.

This restaurant serves as the culinary headquarters for renowned chef Stéphane Tournié, a Toulouse native with experience cooking at an array of award-winning restaurants. Tournié’s first-class skill is evident in his masterful dishes, such as truffle-infused soft-boiled hen’s egg or a mouthwatering combination of pressed sweetbread and roasted langoustine.

Le Genty Magre

Le Genty Magre won the 2023 World Championship of the Cassoulet de Toulouse, and it’s easy to see why. The cassoulet is rich and flavorful, with perfectly cooked beans and tender meat.

(Taste of Toulouse attended the finals and we can personally attest that it was also our favorite cassoulet out of five that we tried.)

But Le Genty Magre has plenty more to offer besides their cassoulet. Their wonderful menu changes with the seasons: Truffles at the start of the year, asparagus, quail, and pigeon in the spring; in summer seafood, and in summer/autumn, products from mountain pastures, game, and the first root vegetable.

For those in Toulouse on vacation, Le Genty Magre is the perfect place to sample classic French flavors.

Fogo

At Fogo, the passion for French cuisine shines through every dish. Founded by wine enthusiasts Bruno and Frédéric, this standout Toulouse restaurant offers a daily evolving menu based on fresh deliveries. We give Fogo major points as a romantic dining location for their cosy basement dining space lined with arched brick (a very typical architectural feature in old Toulousain buildings).

Bruno’s Brazilian roots occasionally add an exotic twist to the primarily French offerings. Expect to pay around €16 for a main, with a three-course lunch costing €24. Evening brings a convivial atmosphere with shared plates ranging from €8 to €20.

FOGO’s commitment to quality and local producers, alongside its innovative approach to French cuisine, makes it a first-class dining experience every time.

The centerpiece of the restaurant is the huge medieval brick fireplace that lends ambiance – and flavor, as many of the menu items are cooked directly over the fire.

The lovely decor and attentive staff ensure a relaxing dining experience. Offering dishes at average prices, La Cendrée invites guests for an enjoyable meal in a cozy setting.

L’Emulsion

Tucked under the arches of a 17th-century vaulted cellar, L’Emulsion offers a contemporary dining space for intimate or friendly gatherings. Chef Baptiste Perthuison, after honing his skills in London and his family’s kitchen, now presents his culinary variations in the heart of Toulouse’s historic center.

The menu, emphasizing homemade dishes with fresh, organic, and locally sourced ingredients, showcases generous, contemporary, and creative cuisine. L’Emulsion is the perfect setting for a romantic French-style night out, where food is designed like art and flavors are harmoniously balanced.
